A former employee at the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Lyon County was arrested and charged with rape on Wednesday, stemming from what the Kentucky State Police say was a sexual relationship with an inmate.
Raven West, 23, of Paducah is charged with two counts of third-degree rape, one count of third-degree sodomy and one count of first-degree official misconduct.
Kentucky State Police said it was notified of the situation on Tuesday after the Kentucky Department of Corrections conducted an internal investigation.
West is lodged at the Crittenden County Jail.
The Department of Corrections said that West resigned her position as corrections recreation leader on Tuesday.
The investigation is ongoing.
