A Louisville man is facing multiple charges related to repeated violations of an interpersonal protective order (IPO), placing a tracking device on his ex-girlfriend’s car, and shooting a paintball at her windshield while she was driving.
Daren L. Moore, 36, was arrested on Wednesday, August 5. He has been charged with:
First-Degree Stalking (Class D Felony)
First-Degree Wanton Endangerment (Class D Felony)
Intentional Unlawful Use of a Tracking Device (Class A Misdemeanor)
Violation of an Interpersonal Protective Order (Class A Misdemeanor)
Distribution of Sexually Explicit Images Without Consent (Class A Misdemeanor)
According to court documents Moore’s ex-girlfriend had been granted an active IPO on June 24, which prohibited him from contacting her or coming within 500 feet of her.
Louisville Metro Police Department detectives say that between July 19 and July 23, Moore continuously harassed the victim.
On July 19, during a non-injury traffic accident, the victim told officers she suspected her vehicle was being tracked because her phone detected an unknown Apple AirTag nearby. Officers searched the underside of her car and recovered an AirTag mounted beneath the vehicle.
Over the following days, Moore allegedly sent threatening text messages to the victim’s new boyfriend, indicating he was watching her home.
The harassment escalated on July 23, when the victim was driving down Beulah Church Road.
Police say Moore drove past her in the opposite direction, brandished a paintball gun, and fired a shot directly at her windshield, striking it and obstructing her view of the road.
Officers noted in the warrant that the act manifested “extreme indifference to the value of human life” by creating a substantial risk of serious injury or death.
Moore is currently being held in Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.
