Graves County deputies arrested a 25-year-old Mayfield teacher Friday afternoon on a felony grooming charge following an investigation into an alleged improper relationship with a minor student in the district.
Sadie Flores was taken into custody around 3:30 p.m. at the Graves County Sheriff’s Office. She was first transported to the Graves County Restricted Custody Center before being moved to a jail in another county.
The allegation was first reported to the Graves County School District office, which immediately turned it over to the sheriff’s department, according to the sheriff.
Detectives seized electronic records, conducted interviews, and took other investigative steps before interviewing Flores and making the arrest Friday.
Flores faces one count of grooming a minor, a Class D felony under a new Kentucky law that took effect July 15. The sheriff said the investigation remains ongoing.
Graves County Schools Superintendent said the teacher was reported as soon as the allegation came in and the district is cooperating fully with law enforcement. He said student safety is the district’s top priority, but noted the district is limited in what it can share because the matter is an active legal and personnel case.
