The Kentucky State Police Post 03 in Bowling Green received a call from the Barren County Sheriff’s Office about a single-vehicle fatal collision at 1149 State Park Road just after 12 a.m. on August 12..
A preliminary investigation indicates that a black 2005 Subaru Impreza, operated by 18 year-old Jose Castillo of Bowling Green, was traveling north on State Park Road and drove off the end of State Park Road, which is the end of a boat ramp, into Barren River Lake.
Castillo and a juvenile passenger were able to exit the vehicle through the windows. The juvenile passenger was able to swim to safety but Castillo was unable to swim to safety and drowned.
The investigation is ongoing by the Kentucky State Police.
