
The Central City Fire Department has identified the victim of Tuesday’s home explosion.
The primary resident of the home, 47-year-old Jimmy Bryant, was found lying in the street with significant burn injuries, according to the department.
Bryant was airlifted to a trauma center, where he is still being treated for his injuries.
A press release also revealed the preliminary cause of the explosion was a large quantity of gasoline had been dispensed inside of the home, which was then ignited and caused the explosion. The preliminary investigation was completed by the Kentucky Fire Marshalls Office, Kentucky State Police, ATF and FBI.
Neighboring homes also received various levels of damage, including broken windows and melted siding, according to the department.
The American Red Cross provided resources for the affected neighbors.
