Four people are expected to recover after a shooting late Friday night in the Russell neighborhood, according to the Louisville Metro Police Department.
Officers with LMPD’s First Division and members of the Summer Task Force responded around 11:35 p.m. to multiple reports of gunfire in the 1000 block of Esquire Alley.
When they arrived, officers found a “chaotic and active scene” and located four people who had been shot: a 53-year-old woman, a 16-year-old boy and two men, ages 28 and 29.
All four victims were taken by EMS to UofL Hospital. Police said their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and all four are expected to survive.
LMPD’s Non-Fatal Shooting Squad took over the investigation. Detectives believe several people were in the area when the shots were fired and could have important information. Police are asking witnesses to come forward.
Anyone with information is urged to call the LMPD anonymous Crime Tip Line at 502-574-LMPD (5673) or submit a tip through the department’s online Crime Tip Portal.
