A Hardin County man facing multiple attempted murder charges in connection with a string of shootings last year will no longer stand trial this week after reaching a plea agreement.
Dante Patterson, 24, was scheduled to face a jury Monday, September 14. However, court officials confirmed that the trial was remanded after Patterson entered a plea agreement Friday before Judge John Simcoe.
Patterson was facing charges across two separate indictments, including three counts of attempted murder, first-degree assault, 12 counts of first-degree wanton endangerment (discharge of a firearm), possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, leaving the scene of an accident, theft by unlawful taking ($500 to under $1,000), and being a second-degree persistent felony offender.
According to police, the shootings took place at several locations across Radcliff, including Skyline Drive, Braxton Court, Park Avenue, and Woodcreek Drive.
Investigators said Patterson fired shots at a home on Skyline Drive before driving away and crashing into another vehicle. That crash injured an individual who was transported to Baptist Health Hardin for treatment.
About 10 minutes later, police said Patterson shot a man on Woodcreek Drive. That victim was flown to UofL Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Officers eventually located Patterson’s vehicle and arrested him following a brief search, finding him in possession of a handgun and multiple boxes of ammunition.
The Commonwealth Attorney’s Office has not yet released specific details or sentencing recommendations tied to the plea agreement.
