Ford Motor Company has agreed to invest $9 billion in its U.S. plants.
News of the plan came out on Monday as part of Ford’s tentative four-year labor agreement with workers.
Ford had been under fire for plans to spend $2.5 billion on a plant in Mexico.
The United Auto Workers Union says Ford’s investment in U.S. plants will create or keep about 8,500 jobs over the next four years.
The labor pact also gives Ford workers the most generous deal among the big three auto workers.
The next step is a vote on the contract among rank and file UAW members at Ford.
