Beginning Wednesday, November 11 through Sunday, November 15, access to the Hardin Memorial Hospital Emergency Department will be through the walk-up admitting entrance. During this five-day time period there will be no direct access from the HMH parking garage on the southern end of the hospital campus directly into the hospital.
The closure comes as the canopy connected to the parking garage and the existing Emergency Department is being removed as part of the Emergency Department expansion construction project.
Hardin Memorial Hospital will provide shuttle service on the first floor of the garage to the Admitting entrance. The shuttle will be available on the first floor at the southern end of the garage. Those parking on the second or third floors will need to proceed to the first floor to catch the shuttle. The shuttle is handicap accessible and will run from 6 a.m. – midnight beginning Wednesday.
Individuals who want walk from the garage to the Admitting entrance need to exit the south end of the garage and use the sidewalk along the parking garage.
Service in the Emergency Department will not be interrupted during this period.
The nearly 14,000-square foot expansion and redesign of the Emergency Department will better serve the more than 60,000 patients who visit the Hardin Memorial Hospital Emergency Department annually. The current space, ranked the fourth busiest in the state, was designed to serve 44,000 patients.
