An Ohio man serving time for an aggravated murder conviction has been charged with murder in a 2005 case in Kentucky.
The U.S. attorney’s office in Louisville says 49-year-old Ernest Otto Smith is accused of killing Cathy M. Barnett on the grounds of Fort Knox military post. The charge was brought by a federal information, which alleges the death occurred on or about January 7, 2005.
The U.S. attorney’s office said Smith, from Toledo, Ohio, is in the custody of the Ohio Department of Prisons and is incarcerated in state prison in Ely, Nevada.
