
A Louisville man has been charged with assault after he shot his teenage son.
Jammie Lee Gates, 55, was arrested by Louisville Metro police early February 14.
The shooting happened around 9:40 p.m. February 13. Police say Gates shot the 17 year old once in the thigh with a 22 caliber handgun. The teen was treated at University of Louisville Hospital for an injury that was described as minor.
Metro police say the gun used by Gates, who is a convicted felon, was stolen.
Gates was arraigned, Monday (2/15) on charges of assault, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and receiving stolen property. He remains in custody at Louisville Metro Corrections on a $20,000 cash bond.
