Three people, one of them a bank employee, are facing theft charges after staging a robbery in order to steal money from the bank.
Louisville Metro police arrested 21 year-old Antwan Lovelace, 21 year-old Tyesha Hawkins and 20 year-old Deshawn Dominique Eddings on February 12.
Arrest reports say the theft happened around 3:30 p.m. at the PNC Bank at 2400 Dixie Highway. LMPD robbery detectives say a note demanding money was passed by either Lovelace or Eddings to Hawkins, who was working as a teller in the bank branch. In total, more than $4,000 was stolen.
The police investigation revealed that no force was used during the robbery and the trio staged the crime to make it appear as if a holdup had occurred. The money was recovered and detectives say Lovelace confessed to his role in the crime.
All three suspects are charged with theft by unlawful taking over $500. Hawkins is facing an additional charge of falsely reporting an incident. Bond for each has been set at $10,000 cash.
