The proposed increase of Hardin County’s real property tax was approved at Tuesday’s meeting of Hardin Fiscal Court.
The rate will increase from 10.9 cents per $100 of assessed value to 11.3 cents. The estimated revenue increase is $200,000. Assuming a collection rate of 98 percent, net revenue was projected at $6.2 million after collection fees.
Property taxes make up less than 20 percent of county government’s budget.
The 11.3 rate matches the rate used in 2003.
