A branch of The Cecilian Bank, located at 2920 Ring Road in Elizabethtown, was robbed Thursday afternoon at gunpoint, according to bank officials.
A male wearing a cowboy hat, sunglasses and carrying a handgun robbed the bank at around 2:06 p.m. of an undisclosed amount of money and then fled the area on foot headed east toward US 62. He is described as being 5’10’’ to 6’ in height and average weight.
The suspect entered the bank through the front door. He walked up to a teller, displayed a gun and told her to “place the money in a bag” that he provided. The suspect left the business going out the same door he came in.
All employees and customers at the bank at the time of the robbery are safe, according to officials.
Anyone who may have seen this man entering or leaving the bank is encouraged to call the Elizabethtown Police Department at 270-765-4125.
The bank closed for the rest of Thursday and will re-open Friday morning.
