A man was killed in a hotel late Thursday night in an incident that involved three Louisville Metro Police officers.
According to Police Chief Paul Humphrey, a man in his 30s fled from a domestic violence scene with shots fired on Parthenia Avenue to a hotel in the 500 block of Phillips Lane. No one was hurt at the first scene.
Humphrey said officers located the man at the hotel and attempted to call him out of the room. A woman eventually exited the room.
Humphrey said the suspect fired at officers; three officers returned fire. SWAT was able to deploy a drone and observed the man deceased inside the hotel room.
Humphrey said the man was shot once by officers and also sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The identities of the suspect and officers involved were not released. The officers were placed on administrative leave, per department policy.
Humphrey said body camera footage of the incident will be released within 10 business days.
Humphrey did not specify which hotel.
