
An accident on Interstate 65 near Upton claimed the life of one motorcyclist and sent another to the hospital Sunday.
The collision occurred near the 76-mile marker in the northbound lanes about 12:30 p.m. when members of the Invisus Primus Motorcycle Club collided with a tractor trailer truck. One member of the motorcycle club was pronounced dead at the scene and a second rider was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital and later flown to University Hospital in Louisville.
A second accident occurred in the southbound lanes when a semi collided with a Kentucky State Police cruiser that was parked in the emergency lane. Trooper J. Farmer’s cruiser was destroyed in the crash. Three semis were involved.
One passenger from a semi was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
The Interstate was closed most of the afternoon while crews investigated the accidents and cleared the roadway.
