Members of Meade County Fiscal Court met during a special called meeting Friday (1/25) morning for the purpose to approve claims related to some vehicle replacements.
Three of the six magistrates were present along with Judge Executive Gerry Lynn to conduct business. County Road Supervisor Jeff Padgett told the court about a truck that he found while looking for a replacement service truck for the road department. He showed magistrates a picture of a used one ton utility truck that has a 40 foot lift arm and gun pole for the same money as a regular truck. The vehicle was formerly used by Duke Energy and has approximately 150,000 miles on it. The truck’s features of installed tool boxes and the lift would be considered an asset in resources for the county. After some discussion, the court voted to approve the purchase of the truck for $17,500.
The court members also discussed a claim to purchase a used all terrain vehicle for the County Parks Department. According to Parks Director Dan Lancaster, the atv has a new motor and a large utility bed that would fit the needs of the current atv that has became almost unusable. After discussion, Fiscal Court approved the purchase of the 2014 atv at estimated cost of around $6,800.
The next regular meeting of the Meade County Fiscal Court will be held at 7 pm on Tuesday, February 12.
