The Brandenburg City Council met during their regular meeting Monday (10/10) evening and discussed a proposed rezoning of property near Eastwood Hills subdivision.
About ten residents attended the meeting to observe the meeting. The Brandenburg Planning and Zoning voted to reject a rezoning request on a proposed development of patio homes on Hessler Lane. The council discussed the issue and then voted to overturn the Planning and Zoning Commissions decision. The council heard the first reading of the ordinance to rezone the property. The second reading is expected during the council’s regular November meeting.
In other business, city leaders heard and approved the second reading of Planning and Zoning rezoning requests related to property in the River Plaza. They also heard and approved the second reading of an amendment to section Five of the city’s planning and zoning ordinance. The city council also heard the second reading of ordinances for annexation of properties owned by Mike Jones, Newcomb Oil, and G&FF. All were unanimously approved.
Public Works Director TJ Hughes reported the cause of discolored water has been found and crews are working to reduce the issue. He said after additional testing of the water, it was discovered that the chemical to treat manganese in the water was over loading the filters and recycling through the water system. Hughes said strategic back flushing is underway and should ease the situation in the next week.
