A two vehicle collision on US 60 near Sturgis claimed the life of one driver Friday morning.
Preliminary investigation by the Kentucky State Police reveals 32-year-old Benjamin F. Allen III of Sturgis was facing westbound on US 60, backing his 2018 Kenworth tractor-trailer into a business parking lot. For an unknown reason, the driver of an eastbound pick-up truck failed to see the trailer crossing US 60 and drove underneath.
The 2001 Ford pick-up truck was driven by 32 year-old Adrian D. Vallery of Sturgis. Vallery was pronounced deceased on-scene by the Union County Coroner.
Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by the Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, Sturgis Fire Department, Union County EMS, Union County Sheriff’s Department and Union County Coroners Office.
The investigation is on-going by the Kentucky State Police.
