The Jefferson County Grand Jury returned an indictment against 73 year-old Kenneth Wayne Muse, the man accused of stabbing a woman to death inside an Old Louisville retirement home.
Jefferson County Commonwealth’s Attorney Gerina D. Whethers shared that Muse has been formally charged with one count of murder, and if convicted, could face 20 to 50 years or life in prison.
The indicted charge is connected to a crime that occurred back in May 2024. Louisville Metro police officers were called in the early morning hours of Wednesday, May 15, to the Friendship House on South 4th Street. That is where a woman was found on the sixth floor of the building dead with stab wounds. She was identified by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office as 73-year-old Brenda Kemp.
Muse was arrested hours after Kemp was found and then appeared in jail court the next day. Louisville Metro police said Muse had been staying with Kemp and he was seen on surveillance video after the 911 call was made.
The next court date for Muse is scheduled for Monday, July 15 at 8:30 a.m.
