Bond has been set at $250,000 for a man charged with two counts of attempted murder of a police officer.
Court documents show on Saturday, December 28, police were sent to the 1100 block of Reutinglinger Avenue on a trouble run. A caller claimed 35 year-old Tombe Thomas, who was visiting family for the holidays and was staying at an Airbnb with his girlfriend, had barricaded himself inside the bathroom with a gun, saying his girlfriend had set him up.
Police said officers knocked on the window of the bathroom and said, “Police.” Shortly after, Thomas fired a single shot through the window in the direction of two officers standing nearby, according to court documents. Police said the window was elevated to a point where the shot was near the height of the officers’ heads.
An arrest citation says around a half hour later, Thomas came out of the house with the gun and was taken into custody without incident. Thomas later reportedly said he “fired a warning shot” through the window.
Thomas was in court Monday morning. He pleaded not guilty. His next court date is set for January 7.
He is being held in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.
