The University of Louisville is using one of their largest financial gifts ever to fund the next generation of medical research.
The university just secured $24 million to train new clinical researchers with $11.7 million of that coming from the National Institute of Health. UofL matched it dollar for dollar, making it the single largest investment in clinical research in the university’s history.
Officials say this won’t just help UofL facilities but all Kentuckians will be impacted.
The funding will let the school launch the “Louisville Clinical and Translational Research Center”. It will focus on changing research infrastructure and finding solutions to chronic conditions like cardiac disease, stroke, and cancer.
