
Members of Meade County Fiscal Court approved the Rural Secondary Road Funds during their regular meeting Tuesday (4/8) evening.
Representatives of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet provided a list of projects totaling $1,659,480. Among the projects includes $640,300 for routine maintenance and traffic needs; $297,806 for flex funds while asphalt resurfacing projects along Kentucky 333 from mile marker 2 to Kentucky 656 totaling 3.8 miles for a cost of $377,166. Kentucky 1882 from Kentucky 313 to Rogers Lake Road totaling 1.4 miles at a cost of $166,972 and Kentucky 428 between US 60 to Charlie Pile Road totaling 1.5 miles at a cost of $177,236. The program is funded by 22.2 percent of eth motor fuel tax receipts which are based upon a five point formula which 1/5 equally among all counties, 1/5 based on rural population, 1/5 based upon road miles, and 2/5 based on land area.
In other business, E911 Director Jeremy Miller read a proclamation designating National Public Safety Telecommunications Week April 13-19 spotlighting the critical role of dispatchers as they aide efforts of first responders. Magistrates voted to withdraw a proposed Planning & Zoning Ordinance related to Signs and Advertising at the request of the Planning & Zoning Commission to have a work shop with commissioners and magistrates to work out key issues and to bring a new ordinance draft to the Fiscal Court at a later time.
The court approved the second reading of the Solar Energy System ordinance. Court members opened two bids related to construction of a new building at the Solid Waste and Recycling Center from Prodigy Construction of $574,107 and Shireman Construction in the amount of $564,999. The bids will be reviewed and compared to the bid specifications for before being awarded.
County leaders approved the review of a petition for Jerry Hardesty Road to be included into the county road system. County Road Supervisor Jeff Padgett said that a cost estimate of work needed to road will be compiled before they can begin the collection process. Fiscal Court heard updates related to Parks and Recreation, Road Department and Emergency Management.
Meade County Judge Executive Troy Kok announced a town hall meeting related to the proposed animal shelter will be held on April 21, at 6 pm at the Meade County Extension Office.
