A Louisville jury has convicted the man charged in a shooting on New Year’s Day in 2023.
In a news release Tuesday, Commonwealth’s Attorney Gerina Whethers said Lloyd Mason was found guilty of murder on Friday, May 15.
Mason was arrested in the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Dorion Tisby, who died in the hospital after being shot multiple times inside a car on East Oak Street.
Shortly after the shooting, Mason crashed into a marked Louisville Metro Police cruiser at Lampton and Jackson streets. Multiple guns were found inside the stolen car, which matched shell casings recovered at the scene of the fatal shooting.
Whethers said the jury recommended Mason serve 50 years in prison for murder.
He is not eligible for probation or shock probation and must serve at least 20 years before being eligible to go before the parole board.
The judge will issue a final sentence for Mason on June 25, 2026.
