A Cloverport City Council member is facing charges after a domestic dispute late Tuesday (7/7) night.
According to the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office, 41 year-old Derek Henderson was arrested on charges of second degree assault–domestic violence; menacing and resisting arrest.
Police were called to a Huston Street address after Henderson’s girlfriend ran to a neighbors house to call for help. Henderson allegedly hit his girlfriend multiple times. Police went to the residence to talk to Henderson, he refused to answer the door. Police gained access to the residence and took Henderson into custody.
Henderson is currently lodged in the Breckinridge County Detention Center in a $25,000 cash bond. His arraignment is scheduled for July 14.
