A substitute teacher has been arrested after a investigation into a grooming incident at a school.
An administrator of Caverna Independent Schools contacted Cave City Police about a potential grooming incident. According to the media release, officers immediately responded and opened an investigation.
Through the investigation, law enforcement discovered that 60 year -old Maurice Bennett, a Caverna District Substitute, had engaged in grooming behaviors towards a student.
Police officers then obtained a warrant for his arrest for violation of KRS 510.160 – Grooming a Minor.
Bennett was taken into custody on Wednesday without further incident. He is being held in the Barren County Detention Center.
The school district says Bennet is no longer permitted on school grounds.
The investigation remains ongoing.
