Louisville police officers arrested a man accused of crashing into a cruiser while driving drunk.
The Louisville Metro Police Department said it happened around 7 p.m. Sunday while the officer was taking a report on a crash near 1st Street and Badger Avenue, just west of the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport.
A department spokesperson said 42 year-old Andrew Mapendo didn’t see the officer and hit the officer and his car.
Mapendo stopped after the crash, and police believe he was intoxicated at the time. He was charged with DUI, wanton endangerment, reckless driving, third-degree assault and more.
The officer hit was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.
