Muldraugh City Council met for their regular monthly meeting Monday evening with all council members present. Public Works Supervisor Anthony Lee advised the council the two sewer pumps that are out for repair are expected to be back in operation by the end of the week.
The City of Muldraugh worked with the American Red Cross and Meade County Emergency Management with volunteers installing approximately 220 smoke detectors last week in the city. Only about one third of the town received the smoke detectors. The city leaders are working to schedule additional installs.
In other business, the council approved the first reading of ordinances adopting the state procurement code and amending the fees and procedures for the city impound lot. The council accepted a bid of $2,400 for a surplus property of a rock wall, camper and generator.
The council took up the discussion in a matter related to an ongoing four year dispute with Dean Dresel regarding the connection of three unoccupied buildings to the city sewer system. The properties are zoned commercial but have failed inspection for compliance to be connected to the updated city sewer system. Dresel is insisting that the buildings be connected to the system but has failed to bring the sewer line from each building into proper compliance for connection. City leaders have offered to provide a camera inspection of the sewer lines in question at no cost to Dresel and reconnect them if no issues exist. If the lines fail inspection, they will not be allowed to be connected to the city’s sewer system until they are brought into compliance with the city’s connection ordinance. After nearly an hour of discussion, no resolve was found between both parties.
The council set trick or treat hours within the city limits on October 31 to be from 5 until 8 pm. City leaders along with the Muldraugh Community Action Group will sponsor a community Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday, November 7 beginning at 6 pm. A hayride will begin at 5pm at the Muldraugh City Hall gymnasium.
