The United States Secret Service is investigating after skimming devices were found placed on a Bardstown bank’s ATMs.
According to a news release, Town & Country Bank and Trust Company told its customers it recently determined that several cards were compromised.
The release states that security footage shows a skimming device was placed on two of the bank’s drive-thru ATMs after banking hours on a weekend. The footage showed a person then removing the device.
Town & Country warned that the skimming device is a realistic-looking card reader that is placed over the factory installed reader on the ATM.
Along with the skimming device, Town & Country officials said that a hidden camera will also be installed to capture a customer’s PIN number.
Town & Country officials said customers are not liable for unauthorized transactions on debit cards. The bank went on to say it closed customer cards that were compromised.
