The driver of a UPS tractor trailer was killed Thanksgiving morning in a fiery crash in Floyd County has been identified as Greg McCoy.
The semi McCoy was driving slammed in a light tower and burst into flames on westbound Interstate 64 at the Georgetown exit about 5 a.m. on Thursday.
Sheriff Frank Loop said McCoy and another UPS truck driver were traveling close together after having left Louisville and were talking to each other on their two-way radios. The other driver was awaiting a response from McCoy when the first driver saw McCoy lose control of his vehicle and crash.
The truck and all the packages on board were destroyed.
Loop said the cause of the crash has not been determined.
Two westbound lanes of I-64 and the westbound Georgetown exit were shut down after the crash for several hours.
