
Kentucky State Police will continue to conduct traffic safety checkpoints looking for impaired drivers, unrestrained motorists, and other traffic violations at various locations throughout the state.
KSP Post 4 in Elizabethtown will be operating Road Safety Checkpoints as well as Speed Checkpoints throughout Hardin, Jefferson, Bullitt, Nelson, Meade, Breckenridge, Larue, and Grayson counties for the month of December 2015 and into 2016.
For the month of November 2015, Troopers and Detectives from Post 04 wrote a total of 1405 citations. They removed 46 drunk drivers from Kentucky roadways and cited 395 speeders. Fifty-four violators were charged with failure to wear a seatbelt and 1 citation for failure to use a child restraint. They investigated 94 crashes, conducted 2140 vehicle inspections, 634 motorists were given a courtesy notice in lieu of a traffic citation for minor traffic offenses. They also assisted 127 motorists stranded on Kentucky roadways and answered over 951 citizen’s complaints.
Officers were involved in 715 special details and conducted over 14 community programs which reached over 1500 citizens of the Commonwealth. Detectives and Troopers opened over 49 criminal cases, made 240 criminal arrests, and served over 127 criminal court documents. In addition, they contacted over 323 victims of crimes on cases that were being investigated and conducted over 100 school and business security checks throughout the entire Post 4 area. In total, Post 04 Troopers, Detectives, and Command Staff logged over 6941 hours of service for the Kentucky citizens.
In addition to the Trooper and Detective monthly activity, Post 4 dispatchers logged over 2400 data entries while still answering hundreds of calls from citizens in the area.
Citizens can contribute to highway safety by reporting erratic drivers to the Kentucky State Police toll-free at 1-800-222-5555. Callers will remain anonymous and should give a description of the vehicle, location, direction of travel and license number if possible.
