The search is intensifying for a man who is being considered armed and dangerous.
Stephen Halsey, 57, is wanted for a parole violation for burglary, but his criminal history includes charges of assault, arson and rape.
On Monday (1/4), the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office spent several hours along with K-9 units searched a wooded area after a man spotted Halsey in his barn off of Nat Rogers Road. After coming up short, investigators believed he had a 30 to 40 minute lead on them.
Police said that a trail camera caught Halsey on December 30, in the 1700 block of Ice Town Road in New Haven, about a mile from where he was spotted Monday.
Investigators believe Halsey may be looking for food and shelter. Bullock, like many others, hopes he is caught soon before anyone is hurt. As the temperatures continue to drop, investigators are encouraging people in the area to report anything that seems suspicious or out of place in their barns and garages.
