
Severe weather spawn three tornadoes which have been confirmed in the central Kentucky region during Tuesday’s (5/10)severe weather event.
A EF1 tornado caused damage around 3:22 pm EDT near Stinnettsville in Breckinridge County. The tornado was embedded within a three mile swath of straight line winds that was a part of a super cell storm. The twister was on the ground about a half mile that left it’s path in vegetation and destroyed a barn and buckled a wall of a near metal building. Survey crews from the National Weather Service noted the most damage was caused by wind-driven hail up to one inch in diameter, which sandblasted the west sides of several homes, shredded vinyl siding, and shattered windows. Numerous trees sustained damage ranging from broken limbs to uprooting within the three mile wide straight-line wind damage area.
A second tornado was confirmed in Ohio County as the storm began as a EF-0 tornado with winds with a path of 30 yards wide near Highway 69. The storm intensified causing damage as a EF1 near Stoneridge Lane with winds just over 100 mph. The storm grew to an EF-2 with winds up to 111 mph near Olaton. The path of the storm was tracked about eight and half miles.
A third tornado was confirmed by the National Weather Service in Hart County. Other tornadoes were confirmed by the national Weather Service office in Paducah in Muhlenberg and Christian, and Graves Counties.
