
A fiery crash in Muldraugh sent three people to the hospital Thursday morning.
The accident happened just after 6 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 31W and KY 1638.
Two vehicles were stopped at the traffic signal in the northbound lane of U.S. 31W when a third driver failed to stop, according to Muldraugh Police Chief Charlie Ashbaugh. The third vehicle struck the rear of one car and pushing it into the back of the vehicle sitting at the traffic signal.
One of the cars burst into flames as a result of the collision, according to authorities. The fire was extinguished by Muldraugh volunteer firefighters.
One of the drivers was flown to University Hos¬pital in Louisville by AirMethods, another was transported to the same hospital by Meade County EMS and a third person was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown by Meade County EMS. None of the injuries were believed to be life threatening.
One of the northbound lanes stayed open after the wreck, according to Ashbaugh, while the other was closed for about an hour. Traffic continued to slowly move around the crash scene until all lanes were available.
