Mary Thompson, the woman accused of killing Dealynn O’Connor in her Smiths Grove home in June made her third appearance at the Warren County Justice Center this week.
A Kentucky State Police detective testified in a courtroom Friday morning that during her initial interview she confessed that she was the killer.
Detective Michael Wathen said Mary Thompson didn’t hide the fact that she shot Dealynn O’Connor multiple times when he first interviewed her July 6.
Thompson enter a house on Richpond Rockfield Road last week and refused to come out. After a nearly three hour standoff, Thompson told police she killed O’Connor two days before anyone found her body.
Police said the man who called 911 was the same person who named Thompson as a suspect. From there, police say several people mentioned Thompson when it came to the murder.
Police still no known motive for Dealynn O’Connor’s murder.
Mary Thompson’s murder charge is now in the hands of a grand jury. If they decide to indict her in the next 60 days, her case will move to Warren Circuit Court where it could eventually end in a trial.
Thompson is facing charges for other crimes she is accused of committing, including a police chase that led to an arrest in May.
Dealynn O’Connor was the victim of a kidnapping in February, where she was eventually taken to a bridge in Meade County and told to jump. O’Connor said after she didn’t jump she was stabbed five times and left for dead. After surviving the attack five people were arrested and charged.
Authorities say those people will still face prosecution despite O’Connor’s death.
