Leland Neal, Jr. pleaded guilty to manslaughter, bail jumping, and flagrant non-support.
Neal was originally charged with murder in the death of his estranged wife, Carol Neal.
Carol Neal went missing in 1998 and five years later artifact hunters found part of her skull in Daniel Boone National Forest.
In 2013, Bowling Green police gathered enough evidence to make Neal a suspect. He was extradited from Mexico where he was arrested during a robbery in 2014.
The Commonwealth recommends Leland Neal be sentenced to 10 years for the manslaughter charge, five years for bail jumping, and five years for flagrant non-support. They will recommend the sentences run consecutively.
According to court documents, he will be eligible for parole after serving eight-and-a-half years for the manslaughter charge.
Leland Neal Jr.’s final sentencing is scheduled for August 30th.
