
Muldraugh City Council met for their regular monthly meeting Monday evening with all council members present.
Trick-or-treat hours for the City of Muldraugh will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, October 31.
Russell Cowins of Muldraugh Community Action Group announced there will be activities for all ages on Saturday, October 22, beginning at Noon. The activities will include inflatables and a haunted house for the children and an Elvis impersonator for the adults. There will also be a hayride starting at 5:30. The City of Muldraugh will pay half of the price of the inflatables.
Police Chief Dale Harp advised the council the search for a new police officer has been narrowed to 3 candidates and they will be taking Phase I testing on October 18. He said the new officer would need to be named by January in order to be enrolled in the academy for training on February 20, 2017.
Fire Chief Danny Dresel advised the state aide money had increased from $8,500 to $11,000 this year. Dresel asked the council to consider the additional $2,500 be budgeted to go toward the purchase of a 100 ft. hose and reel with hot-swap couplings for the fire truck. The council unanimously approved the request.
Public Works Supervisor Anthony Lee advised smoke testing of the sewer lines throughout the city will be starting Wednesday (10/12) and continue through next week. Door hangers are being distributed to make citizens aware of the testing. Property owners will be advised of any problems found and it will be the owner’s responsibility to make any needed repairs within the time guidelines to eliminate being disconnected from the sewer system.
Mayor Joseph Noon read a letter of resignation of Annabelle Johnson for the Ethics Board. The council accepted Johnson’s resignation.
The City of Muldraugh will be sponsoring a Down Home Holiday Shop on Saturday, December 10, with booth spaces available for $10 each. For more information call Muldraugh City Hall at 502-942-2824 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Councilman Curtis Kelley gave a report and thanked everyone who participated and attended the 15th annual 911 parade and ceremony. The ceremony was held at Flaherty Fire House this year with approximately 200 people attending.
The council unanimously voted to appoint a 5 member committee to further investigate establishing a Citizens On Patrol program for the city. The committee would consist of the mayor, police chief, 1 council member and 2 citizens.
Upon the request of Mayor Noon, the council voted to pay $2,500 to the realtor that handled the lease of the Pizza Hut building. The council also voted to build a wall, at an estimated cost of $1,666.23, to secure the office area from the hallway.
