A man is being held on multiple charges for exploiting a senior citizen to get money.
Thomas Williamson, 19, was arrested October 27 by Louisville Metro police.
On November 15, Williamson, according to an arrest warrant, obtained $4,100 from a Louisville senior citizen after doing work at her home.
The warrant says Williamson offered to seal the woman’s driveway for $400. After he and several other men put on a coat of sealer, Williamson returned to the woman’s home, went inside and demanded $4,100. The victim told police she gave him $300 cash and wrote out a check for $3,800 in the name of a man given to her by Williamson.
When contacted by her bank when the man went to cash the check, the victim verified she had written it. She told police she was afraid the men would come back to her home.
Williamson did return to her house several days later demanding an additional $2,700 and telling the woman she could get a rebate and a restaurant gift card. This time, the victim refused to pay him.
A Louisville Metro Police Department detective spoke with the man Williamson had the check made out to. He told police Williamson asked him to cash the $3,800 check because Williamson said he didn’t have identification. The man said he kept $100 and gave the rest to Williamson.
Williamson was booked on charges of knowingly exploiting an adult, theft by deception and burglary. Online jail records show Williamson is also charged with two additional counts of exploiting an adult.
