Murder Suspect Arrested

Police in Clark County have made an arrest in the Floyds Knobs death investigation.

Floyd County Sheriff’s Department deputies were called to a home on the 3900 block of Vale Hill Drive on Saturday for a reported break-in and found the body of 68 year-old Lewis Morrison.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a news conference that 25 year-old James P. Duffy had been taken into custody for the murder of Lewis Morrison.

Duffy, along with with 52 year-old Sondra Duffy, and 55 year-old Todd Duffy and a female accomplice, 20 year-old Chelsea Wilson were also arrested.

James Duffy was arrested early Sunday morning after evading police throughout late Saturday night and early Sunday morning. Police say they received a tip and were able to find Duffy at a home on State Road 60. When officers tried to locate James Duffy, Todd Duffy notified James Duffy of police presence and ran from the residence. A foot chase occurred, where Duffy produced a gun and shot at officers.

Police lead an all night search for Duffy, finding him on Bennettsville Road, after a homeowner found him hiding in a garage, according to police. The homeowner disarmed Duffy, held him at gunpoint and waited for police to arrive.

Duffy was taken into custody without incident.

James Duffy is charged out of Floyd County and has two active warrants out of Clark County for a violation of placement in the Clark County Community Corrections and also for escape. Sondra Duffy is charged with maintaining a Common Nuisance and False Informing. Todd Duffy is charged with resisting law enforcement and possession of a syringe. Chelsea Wilson is charged with resisting law enforcement and assisting a criminal.

Police are still looking for Morrison’s truck, a white 2014 Ford F-150 with Indiana plates and the license number AL304. Police also say they are still looking into the arrest of another individual.

Both Sheriff’s Departments issued a warning to community members to lock the doors of their homes and vehicles.
