Sabra Dipping Company is recalling some hummus products made before November 8, 2016, over concerns about Listeria contamination found at a manufacturing plant.
The recall includes products distributed to retail outlets, food service accounts and supermarket in the United States and Canada, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
Listeria can cause serious and fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
Severe headaches, abdominal pain and diarrhea are among the short-term symptoms that healthy people may suffer as a result of Listeria.
The FDA said consumers should discard products with a “Best Before” date up through January 23, 2017. The code and “Best Before” date are on the lid of each package.
Consumers can contact Sabra at 1-866-265 for more information from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST.
For product reimbursement, consumers can contact sabrahummusrecall.com.
Sabra said Sabra Organic Hummus, Sabra Salsa, Sabra Guacamole and Sabra Greek Yogurt Dips are not included in the recall.
In April 2015, Sabra recalled 30,000 cases of Classic Hummus due to possible contamination with Listeria.
