
A mild night led to a bright start to the holiday season Saturday (11/26), as nearly 80 Christmas displays and a 15 minute firework display officially began the 18th annual Christmas By The River in Brandenburg.
The afternoon began with several area church groups who various forms of entertainment followed by a visit by Santa and Mrs. Claus, who visited with a lengthy line of youngsters and parents that gave him their wish lists and posed for a picture.
The opening ceremonies was canceled last year due to a heavy soaking of rain during the day of the event. This year, fireworks were added back as organizers are working to revitalize the event.
Christmas By The River is openly nightly until January 1, beginning at dusk for visitors to drive through the park and enjoy the lights of the displays. As you exit the park, a donation box is posted for visitors to donate to the event to help with expenses of for the annual community event.
