
An Elizabethtown man charged with injuring an Elizabethtown police officer as he fled on an all-terrain vehicle was found guilty of two felonies Wednesday afternoon in Hardin Circuit Court.
Jurors deliberated a little more than an hour to find 35 year-old Alex L. Dowell guilty of first-degree assault and first-degree fleeing and evading police.
The jury heard from multiple witness and saw video of the July 9 incident. Elizabethtown Police Department officer. Ron Caffee, who was assisting on a traffic stop was dragged before regaining his footing, then falling. He struck his head on the pavement and suffered a fractured skull and brain bleeds as part of his injuries.
The sentencing phase of the trial begins Thursday morning.
