
A new section of Highway 313 in Meade County will bear the name in honor of fallen Meade County service member.
During a public ceremony on Saturday (6/12), State Representative Jeff Greer and local community leaders held a unveiling ceremony to honor the life and sacrifice given of Meade County native, James Sherrill. According to Representative Greer, Sherill’s name will be added to the new section Highway 313 as it meets the By-Pass Road at Brandenburg Station.
The 27 year-old Sergeant Sherill was killed on April 3, 2005 in Bayji, Iraq, when his medium armored vehicle encountered a improvised explosive device during Operation Freedom. Sherill was assigned to the Army National Guard 2113th Transportation Company in Paducah. He was a native of Ekron, a local father, son, and a volunteer in the Community. He also was a standout football player for the Meade County Greenwaves, and coached youth football for the football program.
