A Meade County teenager wanted on assault and robbery charges from an incident last week in Vine Grove is being held in the LaRue County Detention Center.
According to Kentucky State Police, an incident April 12 led to a man being shot several times and robbed at gunpoint. The man was transported by emergency helicopter to University Hospital in Louisville where he was treated and released.
A warrant was issued for 18 year-old Luke Hayes, who was arrested Saturday morning during a traffic stop for speeding on Lincoln Parkway. He was a passenger in a 2002 Ford Explorer that was stopped.
Hayes is facing numerous charges, including first-degree robbery and first-degree assault.
First-degree robbery and first-degree assault are Class B felonies, punishable by 10 to 20 years in prison, if convicted. Hayes also is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication from a controlled substance, excludes alcohol, non-payment of fines and failure to notify state transportation officials of an address change.
No court appearance date or bond has been set.
The incident remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
