A two vehicle accident on US31W claimed the life of one driver in Meade County Monday (1/07) evening.
A 2016 Chrysler 200, driven by 18 year-old Osiris Alnur of Shelby Town, Michigan, was traveling north on US31W when, for unknown reasons, it crossed the centerline into the southbound lane striking a 2016 Kia Forte, driven by 58 year-old Judy Smith of Irvington.
Smith was flown to University of Louisville Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Alnur was transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The affected portion of US31W was closed for a period of time in order allow troopers to investigate the collision.
Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by the Muldraugh Police Department, Muldraugh Fire Department, Meade County EMS, and Hardin County EMS.
The collision remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
