
Members of Meade County Fiscal Court met by a Zoom virtual meeting for the second time for their regular meeting Tuesday (5/12) evening.
Meade County Judge Executive Gerry Lynn reported as of 5 pm Tuesday (5/12), the total reported cases of COVID-19 was at 17. Currently 3 are hospitalized, 4 are at home doing well, 8 have fully recovered while 2 deaths have been reported. Judge Executive Lynn encouraged everyone to continue practicing proper social distancing, good hygiene, and wearing masks along other CDC guidance. He said within the past week, additional measures have been implemented at the Meade County Courthouse including a screen station at the front door to take a temperature check and ask questions of visitors as they enter the building. Those measure will be in place as long as necessary to protect county workers in the various offices in the courthouse. Judge Lynn said that if situation held according to current thinking, the courthouse campus could re-open offices around the first of June.
During the business session, magistrates approved the county road aid agreement and resolution in the total amount of $1,082,747.80. Judge Executive Lynn asked the court for approval from the court to seek bids for a replacement boiler for the courthouse which has failed. The court approved the request. County leaders conducted and approved the first reading of the proposed county $17.6 million budget for the 2020-21 fiscal year which begins on July 1. A second reading is scheduled to held during their June meeting.
Magistrates approved the appointments of Carolyn Kendall to the Meade County Fire Protection District Board; Monica Pack to the Flaherty Fire Protection District; and Lynn Biddle to the Battletown Fire Protection District. The court deferred action to fill a seat on the County Ethics Commission until the June regular meeting.
