Kentucky State Police responded to a shooting on Mountain Lane in Meade County just after 10 p.m. Sunday (01/14).
The preliminary investigation revealed 51 year-old David Gex, of Vine Grove, called 911 and stated he had shot 59 year-old Richard Hernandez, of Irvington, after they had got into a verbal altercation. Upon troopers and detectives arriving at the scene, Gex was taken into custody without incident.
Hernandez was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Meade County Coroner’s Office, and Gex was charged with murder and lodged in the Meade County Detention Center.
Kentucky State Police was assisted by the Meade County Sheriff’s Office, Meade County EMS, and the Meade County Coroner’s Office.
The incident remains under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
