The defendant who fled amidst his attempted murder trial is back in custody on other charges.
Vernon Jackson cut his home incarceration ankle bracelet back in March while the jury was deliberating. The jury was hung, and the judge declared a mistrial, but Jackson was gone by then. A warrant for his arrest was issued.
Jackson was booked Thursday in Louisville Metro Corrections. He is charged with having an excessive windshield tint, possession of marijuana, driving while on a suspended or revoked license, and fleeing police on foot.
According to an arrest citation, Louisville Metro police officers tried to pull Jackson over near Taylor Boulevard and Lynnhurst Avenue, but Jackson made several turns, eluding the officers. Police then saw Jackson running from his vehicle and officers began a foot chase. After a short time, they found Jackson lying in the trees behind the 1400 block of Oakwood Avenue and arrested him.
Jackson’s bond has been set at $10,000 full cash. He is scheduled to be back in court July 1.
