A Louisville teenager who shot at Louisville Metro police was sentenced to probation Friday, on the promise that he will stay out of trouble and get his GED.
James Carman, 19, was arrested last August after firing shots at undercover Louisville Metro Police officers near his home at 24th and Bank streets.
The officers were there serving a murder warrant on Carman’s brother, who is accused in a deadly shooting on 25th Street the month prior.
James Carman was originally charged with attempted murder of a police officer. He took a deal and pleaded guilty to wanton endangerment charges instead.
Under the agreement, Carman would get a three year sentence.
His attorney argued since this is the only crime the 19-year-old has committed, he deserves probation. The judge agreed and made Carman promise to get his GED.
