A man accused of threatening a Butchertown bar, its employees, and members of the homeless population faced a judge for the first time Wednesday morning.
Trey Anderson, 24, of Louisville, is charged with terroristic threatening, a Class D felony.
A police report says Anderson sent threatening messages to the Whirling Tiger social media account on July 12. Many of the threats centered on race, sexuality, and the unhoused population.
Feeding Louisville, a non-profit providing meals to the homeless, was scheduled to host a fundraiser at Whirling Tiger that same day. The event was canceled after the Butchertown Bar was made aware of the explicit and slur-filled tirade.
Police eventually arrested Anderson on Tuesday. The arrest report says Anderson confessed to officers.
Because Anderson’s accused crimes happened online, the arraignment court judge said Anderson is not allowed to use a computer or phone to be on social media.
Anderson’s bond remains at $20,000 cash. He will be back in Jefferson District Court on July 25 for a preliminary hearing.
